Server Migration

When migrating the RMS software from one server to a new one, here are the steps that need to be taken into account.

Step 1 When migrating the RMS software to a new server, there is no need for a new RMS software license, the existing one will work.
However, should a software upgrade be carried out, then a new software license may be required!
Step 2 The RMS software must be installed on the new server: Server Software Installation.
Step 3 From the existing/old server, create a backup of the SQL database.
Step 4 On the new server, import the backup of the SQL database.
Step 5 The host and path may need to be reconfigured based upon the new server:
- Host: the new server IP address or DNS.
- Path: the path defined during the software installation.
In order to change the device settings, the device must be disabled in the existing/old RMS software.
Once the host and path are updated, the device will automatically start communicating with the new software on the new server.
